Equestrian

Training

I started training as a jumper in 2020, and have since participated in 3 dressage competitions and 1 showjumping competition (ranked 2nd place out of 49 horse-rider combinations). I currently train 3 times/week in preparation for 0.8 to 1-meter competitions

Unlike most equestrians, I wasn't immersed in the sport as a child and do not own a horse; with the resources I have, I strive to be the best equestrian athlete I can be.

The sport has taught me valuable collaboration skills. Just like humans, some horses are bold and gutsy, others, quiet and sensitive. Each horse I partner with teaches me how to collaborate with a particular personality, how to work in synergy, and how to work around people's differences.

Volunteer work

I learned about Horses Offering People Enrichment (H.O.P.E) in 2020, a Beijing-based charity that works to provide children with special needs equestrian lessons. Since then, I've been regularly volunteering as a stable-hand and event organiser.
